Frequently Asked Questions

Cold-process soap is made by blending oils with lye water. The mixture gets thick as it saponifies and is poured into a silicone-and-wood mold. The soap slab rests for a day. Then it is sliced into loaves and cut into bars.
The bar soap will cure for between one and six weeks to improve the hardness and lather of the bar before use. It is safe to use after the first 48-72 hours.
Saponification is the process where oil and lye water turn into soap, leaving no lye behind.

Our soaps are made with coconut oil, olive oil pomace, mango butter, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, castor oil, rice bran oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, and lye. Mica is used as a natural colorant, and exfoliants like pumice, salt, and kaolin clay are sometimes added.
We add sorbitol, a sugar alcohol, to boost the lather of the bar. Sodium lactate allows the soap to release cleanly from the mold.
Our decorative embeds are made of a vegan melt-and-pour soap base.
